Hello Packeteers in PackateerLand;

All kidding aside, and re: SPs and our conversations here between
myself and Ian G0TEZ and others, well I was on WCONV ...keyboard
to keyboard < as suggested by KR0L ...wonder where he is ? >
with Paul G4APL, and I mentioned this to him, and I see he
posted, and I just want all to know this happened and I am
supporting the posting Paul made...SO...sorry if I re-post
but it deserves a second go around.

Title : Testing Personal Mail Forwarding paths

Hello Readers

In a follow up to THING@WW or THINGS@WW Bulletins. Which I read after
having a Packet one to one QSO with Peter VE3WBZ via the World Wide
Convers amprnet network the other day.

Noting comments made by Ian G0TEZ, Peter VE3WBZ, Warren KB2VXA and other
regarding AX25 Personal mail Forwarding paths.

It was time for a reminder on how to test the Personal Mail Forwarding
Paths.

To test to test the path to and from GB7CIP.
Send a ping message.
i.e.
SP PING @ GB7CIP.#32.GBR.EU (many BBS's run a Ping server)

The reply will contain the 'sent' path headers in the message body
and reading the message reply in Verbose.
i.e. V ###### (e.g. V555454)

I find this tool very useful in probing the failure points of the
personal mail forwarding.

For example:-
SysOPs that notice No Forwarding route messages on their BBS's or
messages ping pong bad route.

Could determine the cause of the failure message. Investigate further
by looking at the paths in the Bulletins to see which BBS's
communicate with each other.

Then send a Ping message to those BBS's and check that there is two way
forwarding. Repeat, Until the full end to end path is resolve.
Liaise with adjacent BBS's.

Reconfigure their forwarding files..

After all, if a sender of a Bulletin escapes to he network. Personal
Message should have the path back to the orginating BBS.

If's it Broken. Let's try and fix it between us all!!
