Hi Ian and all,
Eh, the name is Warren Eggers, not John Agars. (Think a minute, now
laugh.)
Actually Asimov did write a short story titled I Robot but it was one of
many different ones with the same title. I wish I had a better memory, a
few decades ago one of the TV sci-fi shows (when they were GOOD ones) did
a screen play of the first I Robot (Adam Link) starring Leonard Nimoy as
his lawyer. Rats, it would be nice to recall the name of the series! I
don't know where but I know when you last saw the Foundation Trilogy,
back in the late 70s/early 80s when fan pressure prompted a dying Asimov
and a few co-authors to complete the works so now there are 4 books
spanning 30,000 years of galactic history revolving around R. Daneel
Olivaw.
I don't remember all those authors but R. A. Heinlein sure comes to the
fore, like Asimov he wrote a rather haphazard, out of order series of
books that eventually came together focusing on the Lazarus Long family
and a quirky Shroendinger's cat named Pixel. Better refresh your memory
of Max Planck's Uncertanty Principle and Professor Shroendinger's famous
experiment. (;->)
Funny you should mention Bicentennial Man, a few days ago my curiosity
was piqued so rather than ordering the book from Amazon and going through
all that inconvenience I downloaded the movie starring Robin Williams.
I've been too busy for more than a quick quality control check (a whole
lot better than I expected) but I'll get around to viewing it in its
entirety soon enough.
Yeah, once upon a time I read Games People Play, quite an insight to
behavioral psychology and some terribly cruel sex games that would make
Doctor Ruth blush and exclaim "Oh my my!" accompanied by considerable
chicken clucking sounds. It along with a couple of large shopping bags
full of paperbacks were abandoned as excess baggage during a move some
years ago but memories are forever.
