Well, the good news is, that there is one, but for details on how to get
going with it, I suggest you get chatting to my very good friend, and ex
RAE lecturer .... Dick Stratford (ZS6RO).

In the mean-time, I suggest you download a program called "Puttyy".
(Dick will talk you through the settings of this program). 
Once this has been done, you'll then be able to do, what you wanna do.
BTW, this program gives you the feature of QSO'ing in Pkt (Packet), to
other hams using Pkt K2K (Keyboard To Keyboard). 
I'm not sure whether a contesting this way in Pkt exists, but once this
QSO type program is in use, you will quickly establish whether a contest
thing is in place - else, I see no reason why "we" don't start one.
