DECEMBER 2010
MISSOURI SECTION NEWS
DALE BAGLEY, KOKY MO SM

I'm sure that everyone knows by now that I was re-elected as the
Missouri Section Manager. My goals for the Missouri Section in
the new term are the same as they have always been; to promote
Amateur Radio, encourage membership in the ARRL and serve the
membership and Affiliated Clubs of the Missouri Section to the
best of my ability. I would like to thank all those that voted in
the Missouri Section election this year. It is important that the
desires of the MO Section membership be known and I can think of
no better way to do that than by holding an election in which all
members can have a voice. I appreciate the show of support for
my efforts and the message I received from the ARRL membership
was to keep working hard and continue to be responsive to the
needs and suggestions. If you missed the ARRL website report on
the SM election you can check out
http://www.arrl.org/news/2010-fall-section-manager-election-results .

It is with much regret that I have to announce that Dennis
Gedeon, KBONHW will be stepping down effective December 15, 2010
from the MO Section Emergency Coordinator position. Dennis has
served as the SEC for almost 2 ½ years and has accomplish much
during that time. He has appointed 64+ ARRL members to ARES
leadership positions, by encouraging an increase in participation
by all ARES personnel, and by promoting the training of our
membership. I know that the entire ARES organization joins me in
expressing our thanks to Dennis for his excellent tenure as SEC
and for all the time and energy that he have expended in service
to the Amateur Radio Emergency Communications of Missouri.

It is with great pleasure I have nominated Kenneth Baremore WOKRB
of Battlefield, MO to serve as the MO Section Emergency
Coordinator position. Ken is an excellent candidate for the SEC
position because of his outstanding record as the District "D"
District Emergency Coordinator and EC for Green County. The
appointment is expected to take effect on December 16, 2010.
I've been impressed with Ken Baremore for many years and have
attended several ARES meetings/forums that he has presented
during hamfests. I believe that he is blessed with great ability
and knowledge that will serve him and the Missouri Section ARES
well as he takes the reins as MO SEC. I know that all MO ASEC,
EC, AEC, DEC, ADEC, OES, and ARES members will be supportive of
our new SEC.

I'm glad to announce that after several years the Missouri
Section will have a State Government Liaison. Norm Lampton,
KCOFNA, of Columbia, MO has been appointed to that position. Mr.
Lampton has his own law office in Columbia, MO and is very
knowledgeable of legal matters. In future issues of the MO
Section News there will be reports from the SGL alerts will be
issued when it is determined that the ARRL MO Section membership
needs updated on a Legislative matter. Norm reports that even as
a volunteer representative of the MO ARRL he has to register as a
lobbyist. It's great to have Norm on board as our newly minted
SGL. You can e-mail him at kc0fna@arrl.net

AFFILIATED CLUB NEWS KEITH HAYE, WEOG, ACC

The Joplin Amateur Radio Club will be having their annual
Christmas Dinner in the "Garage" at Logan's Roadhouse on
Rangeline Rd. It is mainly a social event. Of course there is the
opportunity for speeches, club awards, recognition plaques, and
various prizes, finishing with the passing of the gavel to the
new president. With their Hamfest, Club Repeater, Weekly Nets,
Newsletters, Message Board, Route 66 Special Event, and many
other activities, the JARC is a excellent example of an active
Amateur Radio Club. JARC regularly meets at 19:30 (7:30 pm) on
the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, at the Red Cross
located at 4th and Jackson Avenue in Joplin, Missouri.

The Macon County ARC will be having their annual Christmas
Carry-in Dinner at the home of Jerry Chezum, KOJMO, the President
of the Macon Area Repeater Council. The MCARC will host a License
Exam session on January 30th 2011, and will soon be announcing
the dates of their Spring License Training Course for the
Technician Class.

The Southwest Missouri ARC website reported that they voted
unanimously to participate in the Jan 29th & Jan 30th , 2011
Winter Field Day. It was determined that their participation
will be not for points but for the experience and fun. At their
next meeting SMARC members will be having a program concerning
personal survival and preparation. Presentations will be given by
CERT certified individuals and other individuals who prepare
their homes for the unexpected.
