SHORT DE-BRIEF OF RAFARS AGM HELD AT DCAE COSFORD 16 OCT 2010.
The RAFARS Dinner and AGM went off without problems or complaints thanks to
Mike our Secretary who organised nearly all of it. From us all who attended
the Dinner or/and AGM Thanks Mike.
A thanks was also given to our Vice President (who could not attend owing to
other duties) who made it possible for us to hold the AGM at the No. 1 Radio
School in the Flowerdown Hall.
You will be pleased to hear that Membership Subscriptions will remain at
#11 a year, but the Treasurer gave an advance warning that subs may rise in
2012 which will be put forward for approval at the next AGM 2011.
The AGM attendance was 7 Council, 16 Members with 70 Apologises of absence.
The Society now has 1042 Members, 29 life Members, 8 Honorary Members and
72 Affiliated Club Members of which 35 are ATC Sqns.
There was one urgent item discussed relating to the new RAFARS Constitution
2010. Using an MS Powerpoint presentation, Mike G3VAO demonstrated that the
QRV guidance and the ballot paper disagreed, there was considerable scope
for confusion, and Council had failed to comply with guidance for ballots
from the Electoral Commission. It was agreed by a floor vote to keep the
Constitution 2005 in force. A sub-committee of G3VAO, G3JKX, G4SOH and
GW8COE was convened to review the Constitution and report to Council.
It was good to see G0PWR Kevin our new Commodities Manager.Unfortunately
our council serving members Duncan G0NWY and Tony G0WFV could not attend due
to overseas commitments.
Honorary Membership was given to George G3TQX for his work over many years
producing the RAFARS Talking QRV for members who are blind or poorly sighted.
Construction Cup was won by Martyn G4SOH who submitted 3 items.
Field Rep.Award was presented to G0SWO Bernard for his hard work attending
and organising RAFARS Stands and Radio Demonstrations at numerous Events.
Bernard was unable to attend the AGM because he was hard at work at the
Hornsea Radio Rally.
Contest Awards for G2AFV G1TAG ON6WR G1TAG G0WFV G3VCA G3TQX G0SWO and G4PSH
will appear with details in the next QRV Journal.
The next AGM should be held away from DCA Cosford. Anyone with suggestions
for a RAFARS Dinner/AGM Venue, please inform Mike our RAFARS Secretary.
G4PSH/M worked G3VAO Mike at this home QTH on the Fri from the Greys Hotel
car park and also G3ZDW/P Roger in the hotel. No other stations heard on
frequency.
