Subject: Why to be so pesimistic?

Hello all Packeteers ...

... said Pete VE3WBZ yesterday and discussed about schools
not running ham stations, and so forth. That might be true
but possibly we do not do much to promote packet around -
particularly in academic environments.

Last year, I managed to publish a book chapter related to
packet radio in education. Although I did not have too much
hope that the article would survive a rigorous review, it
appeared in the press:

Handbook of Research on Human Performance and Instructional Technology
ISBN: 978-1-60566-782-9; 678 pp; October 2009
Published under Information Science Reference, an imprint of IGI Global
http://www.igi-global.com/reference/details.asp?id=34814
Edited by: Holim Song, Texas Southern University, USA; Terry T. Kidd,
Texas A&M University, USA

... and now I am in the process of preparing another
chapter, for another international book. You will be
informed if and when the new chapter appears in print.

I am sure that getting closer to the educational
environment, is the best way of letting school people
know about usefulness of ham radio.
