Hello fellow Packeteers, and those among us ...diehards.

Yes ... this is a direct keyboard Update, and what a susprise
to see David G4EBT in there commenting on the closure of GB7FCR,
and of Trevor's dedication to the World Packet scene .... For
I have already stated the impact of Trevor in Canada.

Also thank you Bill G0MFW for his comment's to Ian G0TEZ
as I hope he hangs in there too...and David and everyone
else.

This conversation, and our findings from everyone who has taken
the time to post, sent me on a search for signals, for Packet
activity, and new Packeteers ....And guess what? Yep I found
"11" frequencys with Packeteers ... "5 plus" new calls and growing
and all here in the strip between Niagara Falls ...going to
Hamilton ...Toronto ...then straight north into Barrie and
beyond .... SO ... there is life.

Gone is one club and their BBS. No loss, but then it was at
it's peak in Keswick and the sysop and I had a great working
relationship with gateways and such to my landline BBS. Just
the the club and their computer Gurus and Internet this and
thats decided they wanted to mix more Internet to radio and
in doing so disappeared in many places as an RF presence.

Via RF HF in the Car ... on 80m ... I see a ham I chatted to
has done as he said. Their club reactivated Packet, and
his call and BBS node has shown up in listings here...SO
grab the hammer and claw that nail out ...WE aint dead yet!

The great thing about this local at Lake Simcoe, is I am
nearly in the middle of Ontario...in the south, and I can
hear some of this activity, even if I can not connect to
it...shows up in the log. Even Toronto is coming back on.

The most thankless job is that of a Sysop. You can be
sick in hospital or at home, and a call comes in on the
phone ...Not to look into your well being...BUT
"Where is the BBS?" Time to stop, and support your
local BBS .... And in this regard....I would if I were
there ... look to partnership in GB7FCR BBS ... and
keeping it alive. also a good time to visit a few
of this Ham RADIO clubs and let them know about Packet.

I have been encouraged to open a BBS ... Perhaps a
Telnet styled Landliner type via telnet and landline
and the use of the QWKmail offline reader....BUT
my donated computer is for PACKET, and thus PACKET
it must be kept, as is my promise to the ham making
the donation. I say this as Mike VE3UIL has
suggested it to me.

I have positive reasons for remaining on Packet.
I have packet friends here, and friendships made via packet.
I have also Packet "enemies" but then they have fallen by
the wayside, and too bad as there was always hope to make
a friend out of a enemy.

YES ....I will miss Trevor, and I have in the past exchanged
emails with him, and I hope we can still packet back and forth
and email too. YES ...I wish all the luck in the world
and he did a great job ... and now I hope he finds someone to
pass it along to! I hope too, if he gets the time to
advise ours ...perhaps me <g>.

Lets all get the other end of the hammer....and yank out
some nails. I don't care if the volume has dropped,
I look at the Quality of those posting, even if spelling
is worse then me ... or off colour comments ... I can
disagree with comments as David G4EBT has posted in the
past, but like the man. I don't have to agree. I don't
have to comment back if I don't have anything to add.

Anyhow ... time to go...before I win that 20K crown ...
