Hello all whom might be reading ....

When I last did this thread, and the title the future of Packet
there was lots of traffic to the thread, and lots of folks
posting their views, and then after about "15" postings it
all died away, like it seems to be doing, back to "normal"
with postings by what seem like "bots" and here and there
postings ..hahahahaa...by me from "2008".

The most interesting email was received, letting me know in
their area, and without giving away too much or a clue,
to location, it seems they all are as exists here, a clique
onto themselves....etc. Not a "hobby" sort of feeling
but WE'll do it our way ... to the end result, an announcement
in the end, an SB to all..that they are closing down.

Some interesting points, and no stats here...just the point;

<1> Due to PACKET operations some operators etc... were in court.

<2> No support by clubs or individual users local or elsewhere
to assist keeping a station on the air, and in the past
this was done < No callsigns or names mentioned >

<3> One system carrys a posting, yet the other doesn't...Why?
    Funny thing I noticed.

<4> The "hobby" is tring, more and more to mate radio to or
with the Internet. More Internet ...less radio. More
programs and less radio, then comes like some now have
their cyber band on the Internet with nothing to do with
radio, and thus no need for a licence. Why have a call
    if Totally on the Internet?

<5> From one of the Emergency Groups, came all about their
Packet innvolvement. OK. If they are needed the
Government body will call them. Of course this depends
on the circumstances, and on the news, and all, I have
seen Emergency this and that ... not used as intended
as it too was a casualty.

<6> It was pointed out that Packet was the Ham's best kept
secret, as a mode for it's benefit which is being able
to make a posting SP or SB and those at where ever can
retrieve it when on-air ... NO other part of Ham Radio
can claim that .... as you are on or not ... missed
connection ...BUT not Packet. Loose Packet and
    this wonderous benfit is gone.

<7> Another nail in the coffin, came from folks sick of
reading postings by a few, from people with email
addresses and originating on Internet. Respond
to the station ...no reply, and mostlikely not
passed to the addressee. Then one reads from
the call posting this stuff, that they are not
responsible ???? If this makes traffic for
the BBSes, then Packet is doomed...to being
stuffed with this kind of postings.

I am sure there is other things I have missed, as I
am doing this on the keyboard, and from memory
of those things sent to net, and all I got totalling
"14" people.

I am wishfull thinking on my part...in hopes that
behind the scenes there is some work being done
locally and Internationally to have a bright
future ... but given Internet ...and hearing
so many hams going there and their reasons
I seem to hear "sheep" ... so I guess we'll
see what happens.

"Happy Packeteering ... "
