Sorry that you are giving packet away Greg, as I think you are the
only 100% user of VK2IO and occasionally on VK2TGB.
One wonders what the reaction of BBS's these days in that if they have no
users, will they continue.
I regularly whip around Sydney BBS's and hit JK to see their daily users
and it is sad on some not see any call listed except other forwarding
BBS's
But then again it is a real achievement and an interesting hobby for
sysops, running a complex BBS having so many ports and links, year in year
out, with associated running costs etc.
Even with few or no users it must be a satisfying hobby for s sysop, to
see their systems churning away there. In fact I think current BBS's are
performing better than they ever did in the past!
I am up to date with all headers on 4 bbs's, that I easily access via
Telnet/auto Winpac and nearly as keen as ever, despite the lack of local
users and non reply to bulletins now and again.
Whereas voice repeater sysops must be equally miffed and let down by non
use by hams in their areas, as I mentioned in a previous bulletin.
Incidently I have not had a look at local APRS for some time but I have a
feeling that its use in VK2 is much less than of a couple of years ago?
now that many of us have commercial GPS units for our cars.
So to the BBS's, keep up the good work and hearty congratulations!
