Well From over here in VK6 Packet is fairly quiet.

As of next week I will be running the last Country
BBS in VK6, the sysop and users of the other BBS
that is closing will be useing radio via a digi
to get to my BBS.

There used to be 6 country BBS'S and 6 in Perth
now there will be only 1 in the country and 4
in Perth.

Packet in VK6 started to decline around the end of
1999 into 2000, a couple of BBS'S did not see the
need to upgrade for Y2K and shut down.

Various packet links started to fail as the people
who used to maintain the link left packet to do
other things, and no one had the expertise to do
the repairs, I had to learn how the Rose packet
stuff works to get one link fixed.

In the end converted my BBS to be able to do Telnet
so that I could keep traffic flowing, but alas the
damage had been done and most users had given up packet.

I did aquire a few users via Telnet and that keeps the
BBS flowing with users and some traffic.

I review the packet situation regularly and if user
numbers get to low then I may shut this BBS and find
a Telnet bbs to become a user of.
