Hi All, Lets get the ball rolling.
#1 - One thinks that the packet network is user un-friendly.

The packet network has been used for & primarly used for BBS forwarding.
Lets make it so users can easily go from Node to Node.
Let us make a series of Nodes around the country & around the world.
Let us not limit nodes in an area.
Let us have a picture of links to nodes made easier for users.
OK - make the Node the entry point via RF or Telnet, or both,
with the links as AXUDP links; Using say port 93.
Let us have BBS forwarding using AXUDP port 10093.
[however if not convient for the Node, then any port used.]
Let us have not a toooo rigid system.
Lets have a link map & connection associated with each Node.
[eg When a user types I for Info at a node, a list of connection paths is displayed
for that Node - eg Canada = c 15 ve3uil-7]
Let users send bulletins to where they can reach - ie what country & node, etc.

I am undecided to use XRouter/DOS or BPQ32/Win2000 for the job as Node.
Whatever we use the Node will have a link to my BPQMail & XFbb BBS's.
XRouter is far more friendler than BPQ32 but unfortunately XRouter runs under DOS.
With XRouter - links to other nodes are via different node ports;
and with the Ports command you get a list of ports & Nodes.
In the next few days we will put a crude map onto my web site,
at http://vk2dot.dyndns.org

but must think of a simple graphical map system to use.
Somebody may come up with a better method.
Somebody may want to setup a packet user Yahoo site for users only, not sysops.

We need simple user ideas to generate more packet users.
Please send your ideas to vk2dot either via packet or vk2dot@tpg.com.au &
we will put those ideas on the web site.

Lets us all start somewhere at least, not by just talking about it.

OK; Lets get the ball rolling.

Regards Rod....///
