I couldn't help to post this, after no reply to my SP or SB from
Bob WB3DTG about keeping his Packet BBS system going, and also
about TNCs as he posted to TNC's @USBBS .....The push had to
come from VK5SPG to announce that their BBS was off the end
of this month .... thats it! .... final ....ttfg ... GONE!

This morning I looked, and I looked for the usual useless information
that is gone and done like a WX from Canada's east coast...to
the American station that is hooked into a Internet gateway forum
and states this is NOT from their station....but really means we
have nothing really original from radio packeteers in our area so
heres from a bunch of Internet email addresses ....ham or not...
but not from my station ....duh!

I know this is getting the old debate going, again.... Internet
vs. radio and forwarding and all that...but "hey"...isn't it
about time some of the sysops take a real look at their systems
and get rid of those copy and paste from gateways email postings
from Internet email addresses and check that real callsigns are
posting?

I am to the point too ...like BOB..WB3DTG <I think that it is his call>
to pull the plug on Packet, and just re-connect the microphone and
go on the 2meter band...dropping the computer here <dedicated to Packet>
and TNC into the garbage to be sold at the next fleamarket or via
a swapshop. Enough is enough with the umpteen stuff coming thru
here ...not from that station...but some gateway feed from some
Interneter ....

I know a few from a year ago..have called it "quits" enough of
Packet .... Is this the end...or do, we who are left manage what
we have left, and make some serious decisions.

I had a landline BBS for many a year, and was goig to add a packet
system FBB, but after samples of traffic.....mmmmm...no thanks.

We might not get back to a RADIO pure Packet like before with
RF links and HF forwrding....and I don't mind where it is
a problem to utilize the Internet...but PLEASE don't add these
gateways and allow non-calls use the system to fill and make
taffic. There is no way to reply....they never answer
and my list of stations for reject grows.

Thats enough from me .... I with VK5SPG in OZ...will also
at the end of July 2010 assess my packet innvolvement and
whether to go onwards or not.

At least my packet address is real ... and if the sp doesn't
get here or the SB ...the email is ; ve3wbz@hotmail.com
