For Amatuers who may want to use Lead Free Solder here are some
personal observations that you may be interested in with regard
to useing this new type of solder.
1/. Lead Free and Leaded Solder cannot be mixed, if you need to repair
a solder joint that has had leaded solder used on it, it will need to
be totally cleaned of as much leaded solder as it can before you use
lead free solder.
2/. Lead Free Solder seems to needs more heat to melt it, not sure of
exact extra heat but at normal soldering iron temperature is may not
melt properly.
3/. Lead Free Solder connections seem to be more fragile and dry joints
seem to happen more often.
4/. The flux in some brands of Lead Free Solder do not seem to work as
well as it should.
