Hello Outpost users,
Version 2.4 is now available on the Outpost website... http://www.outpostp m.org/.

1. WHAT'S INCLUDED: This release adds an address book, a first release of an ICS 213 data capture form (more on this later), more BBS and PBBSs, a floppy install kit, other enhancements, and resolves several problems reported since the original v2.3 release. See the Outpost Release Information page for specifics. http://www.outpostp m.org/release- info.html.

2. DOCUMENTATION: All the docs are up to date and can be pulled off the website, or will be installed into the \docs directory at install time.

3. INSTALL PROCESS. When running the install process, watch the choices: NEW USER installs everything (including sample config files). EXISTING USER defaults to only the programs and docs. See the INSTALLATION NOTES section of http://www.outpostp m.org/docs/ README240. txt for specifics.

4. ***READ*** V2.4 IS NOT BACKWARD COMPATIBLE. This install will update your data files to be v2.4 compatible. During installation, a program will run to reformat the Outpost.odb, BbsInfo.dat, TncInfo.dat, and any *.pth files. The original files are moved to an \Outpost\backup directory and the files are renamed to *.o22 (just in case). If you have concerns, I recommend you copy your \Outpost directory to something like \Outpost-v230, then confirm you are operational before deleting \Outpost-v230.

5. WHAT'S VERIFIED. I have verified all the program logic and changes, and as many of the BBSs as I can reach:
by RF (Serial and AGWPE). KPC3, AA4RE, JNOS, Winlink RMS
        by Telnet.F6FBB, Winlink CMS

6. WHAT'S NOT VERIFIED. I do not have access to BPQMailChat, DXNET, F6FBB by RF, MSYS, OpenBCM, SNOS, TNOS, N0ARY, or any MFJ or AEA flavors. While I am confident it will work, please give this a try and confirm back to me.

7. WHAT'S NOT DELIVERED. The following items are still in progress; watch for notes on when they will be completed...
    1. Updates to the How To web pages
    2. Updates to the Support and Troubleshooting web pages
    3. Updates to the Support and Troubleshooting web pages
    4. Updates to various app notes (as necessary)

8. WHAT STILL NEEDS WORK.
    1. As I was testing the Ics213mm.exe program, there are plenty of opportunities for additions and changes, and it got to the point that it is worth getting it out there as a BETA release for your feedback.

    2. BPQMailChat was not confirmed, and I need to bring up that BBS locally to see what's going on.

That's it! Thanks to all the folks who made suggestions for new capabilities, and to those who helped with the v2.4 BETA testing. As always, if you have any questions or run into any problems, please let me know or post it to the group.

Best regards,
Jim o KN6PE
