Hi Michael and all,
Actually I wasn't talking about micrometeoroid impacts on spacecraft, the
"oh s***t" thought was about a cometary impact on Earth viewed from
space. After the shock wears off the next one would be "What do we do
now?" Oh just an interesting plot for another sci-fi movie I suppose.
Actually there have been several mass extinctions, the dinosaurs only one
of them. The general concensus is that was due to impact because the
worldwide layer of ash that was laid down at that time contains an
unusually high concentration of iridium, an element uncommon on Earth but
more common elsewhere in the galaxy. Recent studies in genetics have
shown a mass human extinction, that's the one that has my curiosity
going. The story of Noah and the flood may like most of the Old Testament
be allegorical and figurative, that is the way we tell stories to
children passing things down through the generations, the stuff of myths
and legends, but there is usually something behind them other than pure
imagination... I'd like to find out what.
Speaking of legends, Medeusa is real and there are many of her even to
this day. We call her mother-in-law!
