Hi Pete and all,

Andy Kaufman is goofing on Elvis and they're both giving Shep fits, I'll
bet he has his cans glued on tight and his key is just a little bent from
pounding with his fist... literally. Now for you an' da udder Andy (HOLY
MACKEREL!) who is thoroughly confused by now Google "Gene Shepherd" and
you'll come up with a few fan sites and a video of him at the ARRL booth
at Dayton. Check out who has K2ORS these days, he's a fan who decided to
keep Shep's call alive. Eh, they monkey with the listings on QRZ so
you'll find this more reliable and useful for a lot more than Amateur
Radio.

(Oh good grief, have fun pasting that one!)

Speaking of road trips (sans CB) I remember coming home from Dayton 2000
monitoring 146.520 and all I heard from Wright-Pat to Aleghenney were the
ARRL big wigs clogging it up with idle chat. So much for their
"gentlemen's" agreement on the simplex calling channel. You ain't nothin'
but a hound dog... (;->)

Oh and BTW, the original by Big Mama Thornton doesn't even resemble the
way Elvis did it. Hmmm, I don't think Shep would like it either, he had
some strange taste in music but we had one love in common, Die Bahn Frei
Polka (Strauss)... check it out.
