Good, nice to see some sensible comments

the paperwork / chasing round to get the nov was a pain to begin with
and then there was more hassle if you needed to make any changes to the
system and have to get the nov updated, it used to be a lot of hassle,
these days its not as bad as it used to be..

theres a few people would have a go, if they had the chance, like you a
few people I know have limitations / covenants on their property that
prevent them from putting even a satalite dish up, and the hassle some
people have had from planning depts simply stopped them dead in their
tracks..

Well you can if the neighbours dont complain :)

I simply asked my landlord if I could put the antennas up here, he said
to do whatever I wanted to, so that did for me :)

I did nothing about applying for planing permission, 13 years later I
got a letter from the planning dept telling me I had to apply for
retrospective planning permission, as a neighbour had complained to the
council about the antennas (they only complaind to the council because
they had called the then RA about interference problems and insisted
that the problems they were having were being caused by my system),
after Steve Parkinson and his sidekick had been out and inspected /
tested the system here and didnt find any problems the dear neighbours
had to pay the RA the 75quid fee they charged as the problems turned out
to be caused by their own central heating systems pump / relays!!

so as they lost that battle they decided to complain to the council
about all the antennas here, shame they left it for so many years!

I rang the planning dept up, told them the antennas had been in place
for the past 13 years and I had all the reciptes for the materials used
/ labour all dated 13 years ago, at that point the planners said I didnt
need to bother as they had been up to long (I had checked the rules 1st
so new I didnt need to worry after 13 years)

theres a few like that, some users here NEVER send bulls out, but they
use the bbs every day to exchange mail with their friends and to get the
rsgb news, but they wouldnt dream of sending a bull, But its a free
country and its their choice as to how much they use the system, a few
more bulls would be nice, but its their choice, at the end of the day
its only a hobby and nothing more.

some people seem to forget that minor detail...
