Hello Pete.,

Perhaps Dave VK2AWZ wanted to only comment .on say a part
of the problem. Being on the air, as a taker, and by this
I assume you mean he signs into the local BBS ....he is
in a way a helper...by just his presence on the air.

His station is there. Anyone with their radio ON and TNC
setup sees him, and I suppose he has his digipeater set
as I do to allow others to digipeat thru his station to
other places. I guess we need to hear from Dave about all
this and your comments, as well mine.

I have a Packet BBS program, FBB 515c, but then setting it
up is ok...but then whom to forward to...and then have users
which here are far and in between.

Also my OS is Windows98 XP and VISTA ... and I never tried
the other sytem for the packet BBS.

I guess by the Node you mean a program..right? Which one?
And then for whom? Most of the hammies here are stuck on
Internet. Why they even bother to have a call is beyond me.

I have one local ham who digipeats thru me...and thats all
but I used to have those north of the lake use me, but
they stopped years ago, and are all on the Internet.

One excuse I got was it was better and faster. I call'em snobs.
Internet Hammies trying to impress the public with being just
total dinosaurs with a chip on the shoulder.

The local club had a packet BBS...which I was their last man
on it. After all the excuses, and some you mention and hint
at they took it off ...a Radio Club. Now they are a
Internet Club passing as a Ham radio club. Their ARES is
a perfect example of it all.

Agreed...

I am a user, and Ido take part ...I am active, and I let the
TNC run all day ....with ZERO results. I even checkout
other mailboxes and never get a reply. I think most
today here are seemingly antisocial....too bad...Oh
well Pete thanks for the posting...
