Hi Terry and all,
Oh now I see, strollers prohibited in certain very crowded specific
locations, probably because under such conditions they pose a hazard AND
are used by shoplifters. Eh, most likely the latter since those you cite
are markets, it's a private ownership thing.
Just to add to your confusion (;->) Manhattan is the name of the island
New York City is located on so just to be pedantic the market is "in New
York". It is also a county as are the boroughs so there you have 5 of
them clumped together. If you get lost don't ask how to get to Manhattan,
ask how to get to "the city" as even we across the river call it,
otherwise they look at you sideways and walk away... darn tourist. (;->)
Now we get into regional pronunciation, if you were listening closely
Floridians as most of us pronounce "buoy" with a diminutive U sound so
it's easily mistaken for "boy". I've heard it pronounced "boo-ee" so
welcome to the Jersey Shore, we speak a language all our own. Speaking of
Florida, it's easy enough to figure out what a gator is, they're
everywhere. If you're wondering about the geeter... same thing. Heh,
sometimes I need a local translator in my own country, and to think I'm
finally getting a grip on Australian?
One last thing, Key Biscayne is not Florida, it's the Conch Republic.
(I'll let you ponder that a while.)
