AIR TRAINING CORPS SES GB0ATC 6th - 8th MARCH
GB0ATC SES will be operational from 6th to the 8th March 2009 on all bands.
Greenock ATC Sqn 4515 will be operating from the Garelochhead Training Camp
Dumbartonshire. The station will be run by the Sqn Radio Instructor, Brian
MM0GLX 4672, who would appreciate calls from RAFARS Members.
URGENT NEWS. REMINDER, MEMBERSHIP SUBS ARE DUE.
Membership subs are due in April 2009 and still remain at #11.00.
Cheque/PO payers will find a payment form in QRV as will those who completed
a new Standing Order for 2009. For some unexplained reasons, many Standing
Orders were not paid last year. All members who pay by this method are
requested to check their bank statements in the coming months. If payment is
not made, please complain to your bank and, if necessary, send a cheque to
your new Treasurer, Michael M0MJG 4271 QTHr in call books.
COUNCIL VACANCY - VOLUNTEERS STILL REQUIRED, .
There is an immediate vacancy for a Marketing Manager and a Field Rep.
Co-ordinator. Volunteers should contact our General Secretary, Mike G7JPN,
as soon as possible.
COUNCIL MEETINGS 2009
May 07: Jun 30: Sep 01: NOV 17: All meetings commence at 1200hrs.
All members may attend meetings but travel costs can not paid.
The AGM will be held at Cosford on Oct 17 at 1330hrs.
RAFARS QRV JOURNAL.
The Spring QRV will be landing on your door mat very soon. This means that
the Autumn edition is already in production. Space is always at a premium
for the Autumn QRV because of the AGM material I need to publish. For that
reason I need to get your material prepared ASAP.

RAF NORMANBY TRANSMITTERS NEAR SCAMPTON, DETAILS REQUIRED.
Dave G3OXG RAFARS 427 is the assistant curator of the RAF Signals Museum
at RAF Henlow <www.rafsignalsmuseum.org.uk>. He is researching the history
of RAF Normanby Transmitting Site near Scampton and would be pleased if
anyone who served at the unit, or who knows anything relevant, however small,
gets in touch with him. His details are contained in the QRZ Call book.

14 Feb 09. Number of contacts 25. Radio conditions good up to 1200hrs.
GB2RAF joined the 1100 RAFARS Net and direct contacts made with G3RAF/G4PFR
G2AFV G8ILD G4YAP and later with G8ILD G7GSX M0HEM G4KHM and M0PBN at GX0BAR.
At 1200hrs a World Wide PA/PI contest took place and it was difficult to
work stations due to lots of splatter.
GB2RAF should be QRV every 2nd Saturday of the Month 1000-1500hrs local on
RAFARS frequencies SSB or CW on 80m, or 40m if conditions are poor.
