Sorry to hear VK4Trs BBS is closing, but thanks Bruce for all
e efforts over the years, which has been a gateway to others. I have
been on packet from just about its inception in Sydney and still find
it my favorite aspect of ham radio!
Of course packet is not the only thing in Amateur radio that is
diminishing. It is now hard to get contacts on VHF repeaters and even
worse on UHF. One club is even having a repeater contest to push that
along!
Hf is getting more activity due to Foundation calls coming on, but
it needs a contest to bring old calls out of the woodwork.
However with packet, there are always Ham bulletins to read, which as
far as I know has no replication via internet sources. So what
replaces packet, if the fateful day occurs, where all BBS's close??
