oooooooooo oooooooooo oooooooooo oooooooooo oooooooooo oooooooooo ooooooooo
weird mullins Esq.
.. don't you pay no heed man, I talks to myself quite often.
After seeing to any e-mails, clearing the table, so to speak; I can
then do a spell of 'mullins' .. it just amuses me, but there is nuthin
in it to get alarmed about?
Wotcha think about talkin tae strangers? Specially when you
know little or nuthin about them? Surprisin' how many folks do that
quite naturally, and makes no big deal out of it. Me? .. I talks to
anybody who has the time to listen to what I huv to say - but I'm just
as willin' to drop everythin' and just listen to a new storyline?
Givin time to findin out about new folks; is somethin speshul and shud
allus be attended to!
You kin call me Mullins, pleased I am ta meet up with ye; most
days in this fine weather I'm hereabouts, until its time for coffee
over at the cafe, with that red light sign in the window. Set a spell,
the squirrels will find their way over .. they's partial to peanuts,
and will come right up close in, near as makes it a welcome offer.
_____________________________
.. under discussion earlier on, was an interest in High Society of
the 20's and 30's period in the UK.
I like that 'image' of the Plus fours, and long stockings,
ending in brogue shoes, leather soled, with sprigs in them, to give
maximum grip on wet, humpy ground! The tweed caps they used in
times gone by, were akin to a compact landing spot, for a helicopter,
such as those on oil rigs? Wide, round and shielded the eyes,
but are ridiculous in present day dress terms.
.. I was an apprentice at one time, in a mens shoe Dept., not just
any Mens Shoes .. this was one of the Princes Street stores, for the
rich, and noted class, who wanted the best .. for the least!
Getting them to part with their money, was a problem of magnitude
.. they had it, but it was frequently tied up, in property and
other unmentioned assets!
.. if they were going to attend a 'shoot' .. there had to be no
skimping on footwear and gear?
Tweed, Harris woven still is, stout and will last for centuries
of wear, under the most extreme conditions imaginable. Standing
around at their allocated 'butts' can be a long drawn-out wait,
until the beaters get the grouse to rise from cover .. fly over the
butts .. where the sportsmen are ready, with a double barrelled
shooter, of the finest quality, and often costing a fortune;
and was made to measure! Sporting pieces, hand made, and measured
to suit the frame of its current user, were not always readily
transferrable, to a successor; who might be shorter, fatter,
or who stood .. like a duck!
.. those of the 'high society' social crowd of that time .. were
always seen at Hunt Balls, and Social events, where they were
dressed to the nines, and had .. a Title, of some sort.
Society, was fussy about titles .. they were also finely
tuned as to who, amongst them .. had the likeliest most pull?
A Title was something passed down the Line of Family .. but,
a present day HERO, was superior; but .. only just as long
as that hero, remained in the Social set, Magazines, devoted
to the Upper Classes, and their activities?
.. s'aboot denner time! .......... Mullins
