PCL Net Scribe for June 22, 2026

NK5LA, Daryl, Arkansas (Net Control/Scribe)
KX4AC, Carl, Arizona (Out For Surgery)
K0WAV, Scott, Arkansas (In And Out)
KC2NJV, Wayne, New York (1 rounder)
NS2B, Bob, New York (Sysop)
KF5TVG, Bob, Oklahoma

GE all, and welcome to the June 22, 2026 PCL Net.
Early check-ins from Scott, K0WAV...and Carl,
KX4AC.

Net order is Daryl, Wayne, Bob (NY),

and whoever else shows up.

With July 4 on Saturday this year, the PCL Net
Holiday for that week will be next Monday, June
29. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.
The net will return on Monday, July 6.

I originally thought that I wouldn't be here
this evening, as we had severe thunderstorms
move through early this morning...but it was
nothing like Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana,
have had to endure lately, with the tornadoes.
Field Day Weekend looks HOT; but, I will stay
on the cool side of the door, and likely just
catch up on sleep Saturday into Sunday.

I'm going to mail out several QSL cards later
this week, but with First Class Postage soon
going up to 82 cents, I won't be doing that on
a regular basis. If you want one, send an email
to n5vlz@duck.com -- or tell me in the email
you just want a JPG image, or that you'll just
do an eQSL with eqsl.cc -- the latter is the
quickest and cheapest for all concerned. I did
add a few photos to my bio on QRZ, of some net
certificates and otherwise.

I can't believe it's now less than 2 months
before my hamfest trifecta...Shreveport, LA...
Huntsville, AL...and Mena, AR. It has been an
effort to save up funds for the trip...that's
why I don't do them very often. I don't know
if there will be a live stream at Huntsville,
but I'll be in my Train Conductors Outfit on
August 22, similar to what's in my QRZ bio.

My pest control guy came by this morning to take
care of spiders, fire ants, and wasps. Also, one
of the outside gate combination locks has frozen
up...the dial turns, but the tumblers will not
release. So, I need to get a set of lock cutters,
then order a new combination lock.

I tried to put some external speakers on the main
computer, but it caused a conflict with the UPS.
I have to wait on new batteries for it, due to
saving up for the hamfests. Then, I had to redo
both 2 monitors. You can tell it was a Monday!!

GE Bob (OK), you'll be after Bob (NY).

GE Wayne. how was your week?? >>>

**

KC2NJV:

GE folks, nice quiet week... the dog (my child) took
me to dinner at my wife's favorite joint for Father's
day.....

Was going to relearn CW, but the cost to entry is
prohibitive... lost my HF rig in Sandy, don't have a
VHF/UHF radio that will do CW, and buying one just for
CW is prohibitive (plus my wife won't let me have more
antennas).

Otherwise all is well...

Enjoy your collective week... as Darryl said I'm a 1
rounder so 73, Wayne KC2NJV

NK5LA:

73, Wayne...for me, CW means Chicken Wings or
Country-Western (hi hi). Thanks for being here.

GE Bob (NY), how was your week?? >>>

**

NS2B:

GE All!

Windy and wet! Have a big tree limb hanging out by
the road from the wind - I've got a call in to a
tree service to come take it down. I can cut it
up and haul it away once it's down. And then today
it rained all day. Hopefully it gets it out of its
system.

The town here has their Independence Day parade this
coming Saturday and I'm supposed to be on a hay wagon
with my guitar and Fiddlers of the Genesee playing
old-time music on the parade route. Rain will certainly
put a crimp in that.

Been chasing the new APRS test system on the ISS. I
only have a ground plane antenna for that. When they
were on VHF I could make it work. But now on UHF
it's a lot more challenging. I might have to get
something different.

HF propagation still running long for me here.
Yesterday, I connected to my buddy Steve KB9PVH
to leave him a message. I got about half the message
entered and then conditions dropped us. Argh!

Still pondering this week Hamword.

That's it for me. BTU Daryl >>>

NK5LA:

Bob (NY), bummer on the wind, rain, and the tree. At
least it didn't hit your QTH.

I'm sure you'd rather be at Field Day than in a parade,
especially if it's raining.

I haven't reinstalled remotehams.com since I had to
reinstall Windows 11 earlier this month...trying to
find a closer note. We're past the summer solstice,
but that doesn't mean a thing for HF.

GE Bob (OK)...I saw over 80 mph winds in the Oklahoma
City area last night. Hope you are OK >>>

**

KF5TVG:

GE all!

Yes, the weather was crazy early this morning. The
winds were "only" 50 mph by the time the front got
to me. Buckets of rain came along for the ride.

BTW, I thougt CW meant Couldn't Work. Hi Hi

Have been getting ready for FD. Didn't participate
last year, so looking forward to it. Can't be gone
from home long, so may do a "hybrid"... part of the
time at the local club, and part as individual at
home. The local club is just a few miles from qth,
so it's doable. They will have 3 stations. At home,
I will do a battery/solar qrp/ft8 setup. My RPi was
running software from 2022, so I've spent several
hours trying to get everything updated. Almost there!

FT8 on 6m has been strong for me the last few weeks.
I went from 12 confirmed states to 34!

Tonight, xyl is watching her Oklahoma U baseball
team in the final game of the college world series.
Go Sooners!

That's all for me. BTU Daryl>>>

NK5LA:

Bob (OK), first, I stand corrected on the meaning of
CW (hi hi).

Second, glad you missed the worst of the storms.

Third, Field Day never did appeal to me...except for
food and fellowship.

One local ham lacks 2 countries from getting DXCC
on FT8.

I may glance at the score on the CWS finale, but
I prefer collegiate sports to pro.

That's it for round 1...back to the top for final comments.

Bob (NY), I'll post out the note that we're QRT next
week...thanks for the use of the BBS...anything else?? >>>

**

NS2B:

Nothing more here - everyone have a good Independence Day
Holiday - stay safe - 73 >>>

**

NK5LA:

Take care, Bob (NY)...see you July 6.

Bob (OK), anything else?? >>>

**

KF5TVG :

Nope. Hope all have a great independence Day! 73 and btu>>>

**

NK5LA:

Take care, Bob...hope you have a safe holiday as well.

That'll do it for tonight's net. I'll get the log posted
shortly, along with the "net holiday" announcement.

Stay safe, and we'll see you on July 6.

73 and GN DE NK5LA >>>
