DA5UHA BBS Closing 31.12.2008

Message via DJ6HH MULTI-server (v3.00) :

My dear sysop friends!
At the end of the year 2008, I will close operations of my BBS DA5UHA.
I find it no more attractive, to use this much time and money on behalf of a
BBS system which has one or two users left, and whose transfers have mostly
been taken away by internet connections, anyhow.
A second motive is the content of the bulletins transferred via the system.
A big chunk of these contain mere nonsense, or even plain insults and hate
messages. This refers specifically to bulletins within my own country, but
also to some of the international traffic.
I shall miss, however, the amusing lecture of the British debating skills,
which also helped me to fine-tune my own language skills.

[snip]

I do not wish to end without saying THANK YOU to the big number of sysops and
hams which helped me to set up my station, and were trustworthy and
knowledgable partners during so many years (I started operating a BBS while
in Hong Kong between 1991 and 93, and never again stopped until now).
[snip]

Best regards, good wishes for Christmas, and again, thanks for many years of
helping to make this hobby meaningful...

Rup, DJ6HH.

Hello Rup, Before you switch off.

I would like to publicly thank you for your support of the
HF AX25 Packet and HF Pactor Radio Forwarding Network. For the 17 years
of your time time and effort of supporting the Packet Radio BBS mail
forwarding network.

Thank you for being a good HF Pactor forwarding partner of GB7CIP, for
your assistance in guiding (encouraging) me through setting up the
GB7CIP HF Pactor interface some three years ago.

Wish you all the best to you and yours.
Merry Christmas, Happy and Healthy New Year 2009
Paul g4apl (sysop GB7CIP)
