Hi Bob and all,
Papal dispensation and a presidential pardon aren't exactly the same, the
latter doesn't require confession nor payment although both seem to think
they gave god power. Funny I should mention that, when the Church is
involved the parting admonition is "Go your way and sin no more." while
coming from the President it's "Go your way and next time don't get
caught." Another difference is for a pardon one doesn't require a visit
to the White House, it's merely a stroke of the pen. Generally speaking
it's easier for a rich man to be pardoned than it is for one to pass
through they eye of a needle, just don't try it with a camel.
