N5VLZ:

GE all, and welcome to the Oct 27 2025 PCL
Net. No early checkins.

Net order is Daryl, Bob (NY), Carl, Rick,
Bob (OK),

and whoever else shows up.

Coming up on Sunday, Nov. 2, is the TIME
CHANGE back to Standard Time. The time for
this, and most other nets won't change,
but UTC Times for the nets will be an hour
later. You recover that hour of sleep you
lost in the spring, but while it's lighter
in the morning, it's dark by late afternoon.
Forgetting to "fall back" means you are an
hour early for church, work, appointments,
ham radio nets, etc.

I was up late the last 2 nights finalizing
a square dance publication, and that's now
out of my hair for a few weeks. I'm glad for
the time change this weekend, as I'll have
an extra hour to get the QCWA Journal audio
transcript done.

We're supposed to have thunderstorms here
Tuesday through Wednesday, but it won't be
anything like what Jamaica, eastern Cuba,
the Bahamas, and Bermuda will receive with
Catastrophic Hurricane Melissa, who was at
175 mph a bit ago. North Arkansas may see
frost Friday morning.

I don't have food concerns, but with the
government shut down, and apparently no
SNAP benefits, a lot of folks are going
to be violent and angry. I'm glad I didn't
mess with that. To me, they should deprive
Congress of their salaries, and give it to
those less fortunate. But, both sides show
little drive to give in, as it were.

I'm finalizing a new ham radio award...
CIANOTT...for Checked Into All Nets Or
Tried To (hi hi)...for all the net hoppers.
When I noted that, one said "I WANT ONE!!"
(hi hi).

GE Bob (NY), how was your week?? >>>

NS2B:

GE All!

That would be a good award for KC8YQL (I
think that's his call...)

Nothing new here on the ham radio front.
Still fighting with the node locking up.
So far, it's only doing it about once a
week. But always at the most inappropriate
time! The latest thing I'm trying is
allocating for more nodes. We'll see if it
makes it through this week.

Spent the weekend looking after the
mother-in-law. She's not doing too well.
Early dementia stuff going on.

This coming weekend, I get a break though.
A bluegrass jam on Saturday, and a ukulele
festival on Sunday. I'm looking forward to
both of those!

That's all for me. BTU Daryl >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Bob, KC8YQL is going to be the first
recipient. :)

Bummer on the node issues...I will try to get
the scribe sent out this evening...if not, it
may have to wait until late Wednesday, due to
storms here on Tuesday, and a doctors
appointment early Wednesday.

FB on the ukulele festival and bluegrass jam.
Sorry to hear about the mother-in-laws dementia.
My folks went through that before their passing.

GE Carl, how was your week?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

GE All. I am still in recovery mode after my
surgery, but doing a little better each day.

We did manage to get to the Arizona State Fair
last weekend, so that was fun. They had a fancy
ferris wheel with enclosed cabs. I liked that.
It is a lot easier on my fear of hights than
the open ones. Also, rode a nice log flume ride
and got a bit wet, but in Arizona that's no big
deal. Ate some expensive chicken and french
fries and tried some of the games, but (of
course) didn't win anything.

We are finally into the fall with nice weather
outside, so that is a good time to go. Now, if
only we could do something about the mosquitoes!

That's about all for now. I will try to get my
alarm reset so I get the right time next week,
though if I screw up, I will probably just be
an hour early. Back to net >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Carl, that's right on being an hour early. FB
on the health recovery, and the state fair things.
It's true that fair food is expensive. Only the
cold weather will get rid of the mosquitoes. I
haven't been to the local fair in years.

GE Rick, how was your week?? >>>

**

VA7RBP:

GE Daryl and all on NET.

The week went pretty good. Last week, I reported
that my back was bugging me, that resolved itself
in a couple of days.

Radio wise, I just did my usual morning 40M and
20M PACTOR sessions, called the NOON-TIME NET (2M
FM) and another one on Monday night, and on the
weeknights, I checked into the 80M OLIVIA 16/1K NET.
Did the usual Saturday breakfast and coffee sessions
with the radio club guys in Castlegar and Nelson,
and this week I will continue working on the radio
club financial report for the AGM on Saturday Nov 01.

Lots to report on. We had to rebuild a repeater site
to the tune of $16K, and trying to keep track of all
the mice nuts...

Any, that's my week, so BTU Daryl >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Rick, FB on your back getting better. I pinched the
sciatic nerve in my left leg again. :P FB on the ham
radio stuff, and hope you can get rid of the rodents.
And FB on the coffee and breakfast stuff...I haven't
had dinner yet.

GE Bob (OK), how was your week??? >>>

**

KF5TVG:

GE Daryl and all on the net!

One of the things I like about where I live is that
we have 4 full seasons... about the time you are sick
to death of one, another one (finally!) comes around.
We will get close to freezing Wed night... Finally!

My daughter, who lives next door, and several of their
kids have been sick this week, with the old heave ho.
My turn should be coming soon. :(

XYL is recovering pretty well from her knee replacement,
which was 3 weeks ago. I'm looking forward to when she
will be able to get out of bed and to the bathroom
without assistance from me! :)

I've go to run, so will miss the second round. Hope all
have a great week and 73 from Oklahoma! BTU Daryl>>>

**

N5VLZ:

Bob, hate to hear about the family illness...I see my
PCP and get a flu shot on Wednesday. Glad the XYL is
doing better. Have a good week.

That's it for round 1. Back to the top for final
comments.

Bob (NY), thanks for the use of the BBS. Are you doing
the pumpkin patrol again this year?? >>>

**

NS2B:

Not this year - I thought I was going to be watching
the MIL so I begged off - by the time I discovered I
could do it they'd already found a replacement for me!

So, that's all for me - everyone have a good week -
73 >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Thanks for being here, Bob...have a good week.

Carl, anything else?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

Nothing more from my end. 73s to all. See you next
week. >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Thanks for being here, Carl...see you next time.

Rick, you get to wrap it up tonight...anything
else?? >>>

**

VA7RBP:

Our temps are now down to around 30F, snow is on the
hills, but not at the valley bottoms... yet.

Thanks Bob, for the use of your system for the NET!

OK, that's it for me for this week. Everyone have a
great week, stay well, 73 until next time.

BTU Daryl >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Thanks for being here, Rick. The power company folks
came by today to do some tree branch trimming. I'm
afraid we will have to deal with ice storms and
tornadoes down here this winter.

That will do it for tonight's PCL Net. I'll try to get
the scribe in a bit, as it'll be stormy here tomorrow.

Have a safe Halloween, and don't eat too much candy
(hi hi), and we'll see you in November.

73 and GN DE N5VLZ >>>
