If I remember correctly it's a 3 or 3.6V cell and isn't rechargable so
anything giving 3V or so should do. You can use 2xAAA or 2xAA cells or
possibly if you want another 20 years, use something like a CR3025 3V
lithium coin cell. You'll need to buy a holder for whatever you chose.
Of course you could just replace the one fitted with the same item assuming
it's still available. Farnell would be a good place to look for a
replacement. I'd buy a pack a cells from your local Poundshop or eBay and
bodge something with insulating tape!
Slighty OT: I have a single 3v Lithium coin cell in a Casio Programmer's
Calculator bought in 1986 still going strong.
