APRS can create a lot of traffic, so frequency sharing may not work in a
given area. Packet and APRS are sharing a 2m channel where I live but there
is only one VHF packet user. APRS will be moving to the national frequency
soon. Not because of problems on the packet channel but because travellers
expect to find APRS on the national frequency.

Packet and APRS co-exist on my Linux system, with each having its own
frequencies.
