- AM & CW on ANZAC Day - Special Activation of WW2 Historic Bomb Site
Following on from efforts to regain public access to the World War 2 Bombing of
Townsville Historic Site at Oonoonba, Ray/VK4OIL is currently conversing with the
authorities to ensure access to the site for a special activation during
AM & CW on ANZAC Day, Thursday 25th April 2024.
The cleared area at the site is at the moment quite small and Ray envisages a
maximum number of 6 operators can be accommodated without crowding.
It is hoped that the special activation can transmit on HF and VHF bands and give
those on-air that day to have a good chance to contact the historic site.
If you are interested in being part of the group and can help with supplying equipment,
setting up and operating during AM & CW on ANZAC Day as part of the special activation
please contact Ray/VK4OIL on mobile 0409888875.

- Curly Wind Season is happening, so it's a good time to get prepared.
Have you checked your shack and your antenna to see how they will go during the next wet season ?
Its always a good time to make stock up, charge batteries and get ready for action !
Get on air - scare the spiders and lizards out of the rig and make sure your transciever works.
- WICEN NET
WICEN operators in Queensland hold a net every Sunday
The nets happen on
14183kHz from 8-00am (2200UTC)
7105kHz +/- QRM from 8-30am (2230UTC)
The net calls in regular stations and then invites new stations to call in.
If conditions are poor on 7MHz, net control might move to around 3600kHz
depending on how pliable the net operators are.
Mix it with other WICEN ops and call in on the net !!
