On my think, its hard and useless idea.
Why not simply retire old HW and change to software modems?!
Performance will be improved not only by FX.25 code but also
better modem level decoding. Specially for HF packet, where
most of old HW modems/TNC are "deaf", compared to actual S/W ones.
Normally all current HF packet operators should OFF all their KAM's,
PK232's etc and replace by software tncs.
In EU we already done it a few years ago and no more 'nostalgie'
to those boxes with funny LEDs, hi.
