You know what would be fun? If we had HF BBS's like there were in the old
days. There used to be HF BBS's (packet) but they were not that
good....but then came along AMTOR BBS's that were fully compatible with
packet. They were fantastic! We used to move a ton of traffic and it
was done without the Internet. That is something that could be very
important in times of trouble.
PSK31 doesn't work because there is no "store and forward" and no error
correcting. To have a good Full Service HF BBS that will store and
forward with error correcting you need to use something like AMTOR. Now
Pactor would work, but Pactor II and Pactor III are proprietary and
expensive. Pactor I is available for free and that would work, but AMTOR
is available for free...it works with HF capable TNC's and it's proven.
Does this idea interest any of you guys?
