CALL SIGN CHANGES.
NONE THIS MONTH

RAFARS AGM 2008 SHORT REPORT.
First, you will be pleased to hear that the subscriptions are to remain at
#11.00. Attendance this year was 5 Council Members and 13 Members.
The G2LR Trophy was won by Mike G3VAO 642, and the Constructors' Cup by
Richie G0RHJ 2740 - well done both.
A full report and awards list will appear in the next QRV Journal. The
Minutes will be available from our Secretary on receipt of a C5 SAE.
It was also good to see the XYLs at the Dinner and on Saturday the ladies
had a walk around the shops and market at Biggleswade with a buffet lunch
at the Hotel and then joined us at the Shuttleworth Collection. On the
whole the weekend was a great success with a big thank you to Mike G7JPN
our Secretary for organising the Dinner and AGM venue.

COUNCIL CHANGES
Richie G0RHJ 2740 was elected to Council at the AGM and Michael M0MJG 4271
becomes our new Treasurer. All financial matters including Subscriptions,
Expense Claims and Standing Orders should be referred to him (QTHr in QRZ)
or by e-mail to <m0mjg@penalter.plus.com>.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED
Because Michael M0MJG is now the treasurer, there are immediate vacancies
for a Marketing Manager and a Field Rep. Co-ordinator. Volunteers should
contact our Gen. Secretary, Mike G7JPN, as soon as possible.

GB70RAF RAFARS 70TH ANNIVERSARY.
GB70RAF RAFARS 70th Anniversary will be operational from 14 Nov to 11 Dec
2008 on 2m FM and 80m down to 10m SSB and some CW on RAFARS Frequencies.
QTH will be from Shaftesbury Dorset, WAB ST82. QSL via RSGB or Services.
If you would like to help out with the SES, please contact Ken G3NBC or
Michael M0MJG FR QTHr

G6HL RAFARS 4669 ON THE AIR AGAIN 4th OCT 2008
As per RAFARS NL125 and News Flash on RAFARS Web site in Sept/Oct.
G6HL On the Air again after 50yrs on 3.650Mhz.
It was with regret after all the advertising in the Amateur Radio Media
that G6HL was unable to transmit on 80m due to a major equipment fault
that developed on the Friday evening during tests. G6HL did manage to
operate on 40m but due to the long skip contacts only made with Cornwall
and Germany. G4FAI Tony 1209 also wishes to apologise to all the RAFARS
Members who were QAP on 3.650Mhz. Once the fault has been rectified on the
80m band, News Desk will again inform members via the Monthly NL.

RAFARS QRV JOURNAL.
QRV for Spring 2009 is in the making, at present it is little more than an
empty cover and 62 blank pages. Please send Stories/News/Pictures/Events/
Snippets/Debriefs or Whatizzits to Roy <g0tak@kencomp.net> or by post to
G0TAK (QTHr in QRZ). He prefers word document, pictures as separate jpeg
files not embedded in the text if possible.
And a word document or an already worked up script.

RECEIVER R1147B
A R1147B used in a Seafire aircraft belonging to a deceased Radio Amateur
GM3JDS is being disposed of by Alastair GM3NKG (not RAFARS) and thought it
a good idea to inform RAFARS Members who might know of a good home for the
R1147B even as a Spitfire restoration item in a museum. If any member is
interested, a donation to the Heart Foundation would be appreciated.
For full information and pictures of the R1147B, contact Alastair on email
address <agcampell@blueyonder.co.uk>
