Thaks Ian.

We all can, as the mood takes us:-)

We're all entitled to:

"seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds,
regardless of frontiers through any media of our choice"...

That's what I do, and I choose packet to do it.

What some (just one) can't get the hang of is that
we're entitled to do this "without interference".

I write about things that interest me, which I hope might interest
a few others. If they're not interested, it's no-one's time but my own.

I'm a windbag, but try to make what are often serious and deadly dull
topics as interesting as I can, and I try to write in measured tones.

As to "6k" - that's three A4 sides; one page of a tabloid newspaper.

Anyone interested in what I write won't find that too burdensome, given
that tabloids such as the Daily Mail run to more than 100 pages.

I hope in vain that those not interested will pay no heed to my bulls,
just as I pay none to theirs. They're not force fed, they're
self-selected, (one might even say "self-inflicted").

It isn't hard to grasp.

Anyone reading this is doing so because they want to - not because
they have to. (Unless suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder).

The writer, the topic, the bulletin size, is obvious from the header.

Just as we're permitted to write about things that interest us, others
have an inalienable right to ignore us - a right that some should embrace
with more enthusiasm.

Why anyone should open 6k+ bulls from someone they despise to the point
of loathing, on topics in which they're not interested, experienced or
knowledgeable, only to cause QRM contrary to the terms of their licence
and ISP, is one of life's mysteries.

I've written some 12,000 bulls on almost 500 topics over the last 15
years, often on topics such as regulatory frameworks, human rights abuses,
crime and punishment, domestic and international law, and constitutional
affairs, all of which I'm well versed in.

My extended family includes people from India, France, The Lebanon, Egypt
and Switzerland. It includes Hindus, humanists, atheists and Catholics.

Hence, I have more than a passing interest in racial and religious
intolerance, political oppression, discrimination and persecution.

Like most British people my family members and my wife's were affected by
WW1 and WW2, and having been born in 1939, my early years has shaped my
outlook in adulthood.

Other topics of interest include ecology, and the history and evolution
of English in all its forms. And I'm interested in, and fascinated by,
(but not, as some assert - obsessed with), Australia (which I've been
neglecting a bit of late. Memo to self: Write more stuff about Oz).

Quite apart from its unique geography, flora, fauna, marine life, and
British colonial history, I admire Oz for its human rights framework -
well ahead of the UK and some other developed countries, in law, in
treaty obligations and in spirit (if not always in its application).

What's not to like about Oz?

It's surreal that when I've mentioned important initiatives which put Oz
in a favourable light, and eminent Australians held in high regard not
just in Oz, but internationally, Bob, VK6BE, has said many times that
I'm "digging the dirt on Oz; running the country down and painting a
misleading picture".

It's nonsense, and I don't think it's a view shared by many.

Appreciative personal messages from 58 VKs reassure me that they don't
read adverse inferences into my bulls when none is intended. Yes, that's
right - 9 VK2s, 12 VK3s, 12 VK4s, 14 VK5s, 7 VK6s, 4 VK7s, and one VK8.

So I can cope with one VK6 and an erstwhile VK5 who see things
differently.

I utterly refute ludicrous assertions that messages on politics and
religion are, per se, offensive and have no place on packet, regardless
of the subject matter.

Not only are we permitted to write about these and any others topics,
that right is protected in law. That many choose not to engae in these
topics is irrelevant - it's their choice - it isn't compulsory.

I'm not expressing and opinion, I'm stating the law.

To say "even if we're allowed to discuss such matters we ought not to",
is an insulting and damning indictment against radio amateurs. It smacks
of belligerent narrow-minded bigotry.

And as far as Oz is concerned, it's utter tosh.

Not just my opinion - I have it in writing from the Federal Attorney
General, whose department drafts the amateur radio regs which the ACMA
is required to implement.

What's more, in 1992 the High Court of Australia held that the right to
freedom expression insofar as public & political discussion is concerned,
was implied in the Constitution.

Subsequent cases made determinations on the scope of this implied freedom.
It was found in those judgements to extend to the publication of material:

Discussing government and political matters generally;

*relating to the performance of individuals of
their duties as members of the Parliament; and

*discussing the performance, conduct and fitness for office
of members of the Commonwealth and State legislatures.

The Court has stated:

"More generally, freedom of political debate is at the very core of the
concept of a democratic society which prevails throughout the Convention.
[the ICCPR]. The limits of acceptable criticism are accordingly wider as
regards a politician as such, than as regards a private individual...

End quote.

l've said this many times before but it does no harm to say it again, in
the certain knowledge that the guy who'll pay least regard to it will read
it right down to here the instant it hits his BBS.

'Twas ever thus.

Quote of the day:

"Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath:
for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord".

Romans 12:19
KJV.
