Looking for some input on whatâ€Ös going on around the country these days with packet?

I was big in packet in the 90â€Ös then got busy in the fire service and did not do much ham radio for years, then a few years ago I got back into it and specifically digital stuff Packet, VARA & FLdigi mostly. So I put back up a packet node and bbs using LinBPQ and found that there is not much local activity but there is activity in some other nearby counties. I also operate a VARA-FM WL2K Gateway (wide) here and have a few more users then I do with packet.

I belong to a few groups.io and I am really getting tired of hearing some of these groups putting down packet because VARA & FLdigi are much faster (no kidding). My position is that although the other modes are faster for passing traffic Packet is just slow and steady and Packet offers BBS, Chat Server, Personal Mail Box and allowing for multiple connections where VARA & FLdigi donâ€Öt. I do like VARA, Winlink & FLdigi but still like packet the best!

So back to the question is anyone using Packet for any portion of ECCOMMs or any other uses of Packet around the US (other then APRS)?
