It is 2:00am here on the east coast of the United States
and aprox 28 hours ago any netrom connection to this system was
flaky at best, ax/udp forwarding was ceased, there wasn't any
forwarding of messages going in or out of the system, and I
accidently deleted my entire Linux AX.25 config folder. With no
hope in sight, I was starting to explore alternative options,
even going back to LinBPQ.
With some much needed sleep, I had enough sense to reach
out to N1URO, and the Uronode mailing list. The mighty and wise
gray beards of packet radio guided me in the right direction, and
pointed me to a permanent fix to my issue. The linux kernel has been
flawed for quite some time now for us packet people. AX.25 is
broken, but we have a solution. With 3 lines of code added to the
kernel, and a very long compile, and I am back and rock solid as
they said I would be.
There were a few that still stuck out this strange and
curious journey with me, and that I appreciate. As of 2/18/20 at
2:00am CHBNOD:K3HCB-7 and JNOS5:K3CHB-5 is back and operational.
Both nodes are accessible via netrom. All forwarding should be
resumed. At this time, ax/udp is back up as well as ax/ip.
The process will be documented and published to our channels
in the near future by PE1RRR.
