Hello all,
I was recently informed by one of my forwarding partners that packet
bulletins, I had originated, arrived at his station as SP (personal)
mails. In my case, the BBS software I administered was LinBPQ and that
was running on the same machine with a Thunderbird mailer.
Although it appeared as a possible BPQ bug, further investigation proved
that Thuderbird (in my case) produced some of those faulty "SP
bulletins". The right way to avoid that issue, and write bulletins in
Thuderbird that will be then forwarded by BPQ as proper SB mails, you
can do this way in Thuderbird:
At first you should 'park' yourself (by a mouse click) to an appropriate
sub-folder within the packet bulletins newsgroup folder in your
Thunderbird (in the left-side pane) where you want your new bulletin to
belong to (for example ALERT.WW). Then you should click on the 'Write'
icon in the menu toolbar. The new message window will open, having
'From:' field already filled with your name and <emailaddress>, and
'Newsgroup:' field already filled with the chosen sub-folder's name (in
this example ALERT.WW). Then you can fill in the Subject and your
message content, finishing by clicking on 'Send' icon.
I just did the same and this time the LinBPQ Mail software listed the
new message as a bulletin (type B$ before being read/forwarded).
Hope this helps.
