Hello Everyone ...and I know I have had readers, who took my comments
and did put them into action. of course via my source for this
NEWS came the suggestion that some might be "jealous" or a few might
say oh a commerical BBS, fees paid to use it...etc...etc.
Well packet BBSes are not unlike Repeaters that are supported and
operated by member subcription.or however....AND they are open
and free to all....except perhaps the phone patch or linking
is for only members.
Well my source has "Friends of the BBS" up and running and it is
the example for me to say... "SEE! It works and can be done!"
Yeap! No committees, no meetings, no this or that or petty
politics...just users of a BBS now starting the foundations
that will go to the rest of the country.
What country am I talking about? ...Never mind...it can work
anywhere.
WE Packeteers are truely an International Group! I ask you
also to consider other countrys too lacking in radio and
antennas to establish a BBS station. Got an old VHF -UHF
radio that can be used for packet...or a HF rig that has seen
better days for HF forwarding...then PLEASE OH please hang
on to it!
HAMS in the past have co-operated to pass medical supplys
and lots more...so it is all possible to help get equipment
to countrys that need our help. How to set this up
I have not a clue.... need more folks who do.
Here in CANADA... I am looking for any and all Packet equipment
FREE if I can get it... I want to go to the local club
and most likely get thrown out and blacked balled for speaking
of the "Magic" of RAdio < stole this from David ZL3AI > and
Packet Radio. I am given now I will only get support from
"1" lone member who is a Packeteer...so not all is lost.
We are thinking here of things like National Frequency and
a plan ... so ... thanks to my source for the email about
the "Friends of the BBS " THAT is encouraging....a start.
